AIIP Workshop #1

Last Thursday, we kicked off our Workshop #1: AI Implementation Use Case with an insightful discussion on problem statements, featuring Girish Dilip Patil, Head of Technology for Generative AI & Digital Native at AWS ASEAN.

The discussion kicked off with the exploration of the current excitement and fears surrounding AI, acknowledging that while AI has immense potential, it also presents challenges such as high costs, ethical concerns, and the risk of overhyping its capabilities. Girish emphasized that AI technology is becoming increasingly accessible, with models and tools that are democratized and available to startups in Indonesia just as they are to those in more developed tech hubs like Silicon Valley. A significant point of discussion was the trajectory of AI models, which are becoming smaller, more efficient, and more affordable. This trend opens up opportunities for startups to leverage AI even without the massive computational resources previously required.

The panel also touched on the practical applications of AI in industries like education and healthcare, noting that AI can offer personalized learning and improve medical diagnostics, thus having a profound impact on these sectors.
